Feline flip out

Oscar, our male cat is all over the place! As I mentioned, he peed on my duvet. A few days later he peed in our ensuite (carpet!); today despite Mr D, my son and my youngest daughter all being in my bedroom, he pooed in the ensuite. I was in the loft and could smell it - neither Mr D nor my son even noticed!!! They must have gone nose blind as the advert goes. A bit later, I was in my son's room chuntering to myself that the neatly folded pile of clean washing was still on the floor rather than having been put away....only to discover that Oscar had used that as a toilet too! Trust us to have a looney tune for a cat. Still only 16 sleeps to go and he can christen the new house!

Jet is slowly returning to normal if a little stiff in that leg still. They tested a sample from the tissue and he has staphylococcus in there, but we now have the right antibiotic so we will continue with that for another few weeks to make sure we have nailed it.

The owners of our new house are moving to an egg farm so are leaving us their chickens. From what I remember they have bantams and hybrids. Some of them lay gorgeous little blue eggs :) I have also offered to babysit their geese until they get settled as they are having to move into rented. They may have someone else who can do it, but if not it will be a good taster of whether I would like geese or not.

Mr D and I have been very busy today - one large charity shop run and two tip runs. We have pretty much packed up every bedroom now plus most of downstairs. Just the kitchen and sheds to go... Am really looking forward to this stage being over. I am so over boxes!!

  1. Oh my goodness, glad to hear it is all happening for you. Perhaps your cat is feeling a bit stressed, they seem to know when things are changing. I have bought 'Feliway' plug in pheromone. You use it in your present home then for a couple of months in your new home to help your cat settle.

    1. We are back at the vets on 1st, so I'll ask them then. The other cat decided to be sick on the carpet this morning!!

  3. Sounds like it's all systems go! How lovely that you get to inherit the chickens and geese. I'm sure the cats can sense a bit of a change coming.

    1. Funnily enough they didn't offer me their sheep, cats or dogs!
There's no going back now :)

  5. I remember a cat peeing on my pram cover. It was in the shopping basket underneath. I had to throw it away because I couldn't get the smell out. I bet you're very excited I know I would be.

  6. When our cat Shania gets upset with us she will leave us a little gift in the middle of the floor. I have almost stepped on this "gift" a couple of times whilst making my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Soon you will be in your new place.

    God bless.

  7. Yes, your cats are just stressed because of the move, hopefully when general living settles down they will go back to being normal housetrained pussies ... if you can ever describe a cat as 'normal'. Our Ginger was chasing a snake the other day, I think it could have been a Slow Worm but the way it was rearing up at him to try and stop his attack it was very snakelike, so I'm not sure either way. Daft cat!!

You'll either love the geese or hate them, just don't try and treat them like chickens ;-)

I loved having ours apart from the mess they make of wherever they live, they just decimate the grass. The gander Harry, loved me to bits and would follow me around trying to cuddle his neck into me all the time I was in Chicken World with them. They are wonderful to watch though and fantastic 'guard dogs'.

  8. I'm a new reader. Love reading your blog & hope the move itself goes trouble free! We adopted a male kitty and after a year with us started peeing on dog beds,carpets.....etc. Read on the internet he might have crystals in his bladder. Off to the vet & after bloodwork was done, sure enough that is what he had. Maybe after the move if he's still having issues, this might be something to consider.
Can't wait to see pics of your family all settled in at the new home. Patty (USA)
