The battle of the comb

Every day, at least once a day and sometimes twice, I pick up Mr D's comb from the top of the bathroom cabinet and put it back IN the bathroom cabinet on the top shelf, where it lives. It's a silent, unspoken (until now) battle! A battle, I suspect Mr D is totally unaware of. You have to wonder when he gets the comb out of the cupboard every time he needs to use it, if he actually thinks to himself "Ha ha, I'm going to wind her up and leave it on top of the cupboard, a full two inches away from where it should live" ...... I'm guessing that's not the case and really it's a matter of absentmindedness or possibly laziness, or maybe he actually thinks the comb lives on top of the cabinet?
The battle will no doubt continue on ad infinitum - just one of those things you come across when you share your living space with others. Nothing big, nothing important, just a daily reminder that I am lucky enough to be sharing my home with the lovely Mr D - even if he can't remember where his comb should live!!......
It's a similar battle to the one with the kids who leave things for the dishwasher next to the dishwasher rather than in it .......
I expect there will be many of you out there with experience of those mini power battles around the home?

  1. This made me smile, I have a similar silent battle with hubby, when he has used the towel in the bathroom he hangs it over the bannister on the landing instead of on the heated rail, so I am forever putting the towel back I have mentioned it a few times but it continues, it used to get my back up but now I just move the towel when passing its not worth falling out over :-)

    1. Yes we have similar here. From April to October I like the towels on the banister because there is no heating on so they dry better opened out, but when the heating is on I want them on the towel rail. You can bet your bottom dollar that they do the opposite! :)

  3. Why don't you just give in and leave the comb on the top, then he'll probably have to ask you where it is?

    1. It turns out that after 23 years of living together he has never noticed that he collects the comb from a different place to where I left it, so is suspect he wouldn't notice that either!

  4. Yep ... we have a silent 'thing' with the plugs in all the sinks in the house.

When Lovely Hubby pulls plug out he drapes it's chain over the top of the tap, I like it to be round the base of the tap, (for practical reasons, so you can actually turn the tap on without the plug in the way if you don't need it in the plughole). I change it's position everytime I go in the bathroom, he has never ever said anything, but he must have noticed ... well you'd think after eleven years together .... wouldn't you!!

    1. The chain HAS to be around the base of the tap. Otherwise it's at risk of getting stuck in the turning oart of the tap. They may think it's a whim on our part but it's definitely practical!

  5. My husband's sink and cabinet are on the other side of the bathroom from mine and that works well for us.

  6. My husband literally steps out of his slippers and leaves them exactly where he was standing at that point, whether it be him going to bed, going outside or going to work. Smack bang in the middle of the floor. I've threatened to chuck them if I trip over them again.

    1. It it were me, he may find a little something left in his slipper as a surprise the next time he put them on......!

  7. I'm the messy person in our house, so I have had to learn to put things away, not put things down. Dan has been very patient although I know I must frustrate him no end at times.

    1. I guess everyone has their own comfort zone of tidiness or not... I'm definitely a tidy freak, which irritates the heck out of me sometimes, but no matter how hard I try, I can't be otherwise!
